Need Belgian recommendations.

Hi gang,
My girlfriend and I are embarking on a trip to Brugge, Antwerp and Brussels, Belgium Friday evening.  Depending on how ambitious we are, this may include side trips to Amsterdam and London.

Anyone got any hot tips for cheap eats (particularly in Belgium)?  E-mail them or, better still, post them in comments.  Dank u!

  1. I have never been to Europe, but I respect Holly Moore’s opinion on cheap eats, and he has been there, so check: http://www.hollyeats.com/Europe.htm

I went to the low countries last year. In Brussels take a trip to the Musee Royal de l’Afrique Centrale. You take the #44 Tram(from the Montgomery metro station) to the end of the line in Tervuren and walk about 100 yards up the highway(trust me, it’s worth it) and then you get to a Museum of the Congo that hasn’t been updated in about ninety years. It’s fantastic and gross and wonderful all at the same time and the gardens and woods are fantastic for exploring of laying about. For Belgian food in Brussels I recomend L’Achepot in Ste-Catherine. 1 Place Ste-Catherine. Casual and neighborhoody, better than average food for a country not exactly overflowing with culinary options. Seriously though, the museum is totally worth an afternoon, especially if the weather is nice.

If you go to London try Leon on Carnaby Street – it’s all organic, very very tasty street food. Try their superfood salad and the meatballs with rice.
